MKM Maniago Knife Makers
The Timavo was designed by Jesper Voxnaes, a custom knifemaker out of Denmark, and produced by Viper Knives out of Maniago, Italy. "Produced in Maniago, Italy" is the theme of the entire enterprise for MKM, which is aptly named. This 'brand' is a collection of four of the top knife manufacturers in Italy working together to consolidate and strengthen their commercial contributions to foreign markets.
They've chosen to work with some highly regarded and sought-after custom makers to launch the brand and they've already made quite a splash. MKM won Knife Collaboration of the Year with Lucas Burnley and Bob Terzuola at the 2018 BLADE Show, while Viper took home Overall Knife of the Year with the SURU and LionSteel won the Manufacturing Quality Award for the third time in five years. A spectacular start, and one that confirms and fuels the mission of the Maniago Knife Makers consortium and the MKM brand: consolidating the value and style of Made in Maniago, by working together as a team.
A rippled surface, broad bight and the crest of a wave: with its limpid and harmoniously multifaceted design, Timavo evokes the multiple forms of a flowing river. In terms of folding knives from Jesper Voxnaes, it's a leading contender for your next everyday carry knife. The easy, crisp flipping action makes this an addictive knife for tinkering while its fluid aesthetics and ergonomics will make it a fast favorite. We enjoy the contoured shape of the handle in both the hand and the pocket while an inset liner lock mechanism provides a rock-solid lockup. There are many aspects that make the Timavo a perfect knife for EDC and hardly a criticism we can level against it. This is a knife that we feel every collector should and will try out at some point and destined to gain quite a following as time passes.

Beautiful knife, needed some tuning
I like everything about the design of this knife. The size is great for every day. It’s not a light knife, but it strikes a nice balance between something that is comfortable to have in your pocket and also comfortable in your hand. It has an assuring heft that makes it feel like a quality piece and the finish, including all the rounded off edges, is very nice. My copy was very tight when I received it, to the point that it was almost impossible to flip open with the finger stud. Loosening the bolster did not help, so I finally disassembled the entire knife and reduced the tension on the liner lock. This did the trick and the knife now opens with reasonable pressure and locks and folds securely. It seems like this adjustment should not be necessary at this price point, but otherwise this is a wonderful knife.
