RCCR25OR: ESEE-CR2.5-OR Camp-Lore

ESEE Knives

The Camp-Lore series was developed to answer the demand for traditional, basic, bushcraft knives. The designers of this knife series come from unique backgrounds and experiences, with each considered to be one of the best in their field. All of the Camp-Lore knives are simple, traditional, fixed blade designs that have been field-proven for years. This Camp-Lore is built in the USA utilizing 1095 carbon steel and removable orange G10 handle scales. Each knife comes with a USA made traditional pouch sheath using leather supplied by one of the oldest tanneries in North America.

The CR2.5 model designed by Cody Rowen is the knife for you if you prefer ultimate compactness in a knife. The 2.5" drop point blade is flat ground to give you a very nice slicing blade and it has a tumbled stonewash finish. The slender orange G10 handle is svelte in size yet very comfortable and impervious to the elements. We see this knife being a superb bird and trout knife, perfectly designed for smaller game that needs a reliable cutting tool. It's recommended you strop the knife with a leather strop and compound as often as possible (daily if you can) to prolong the edge of the knife. Includes a leather sheath.

Esee CR2.5
I love all ESEE knives so maybe I'm prejudice. But this is a tough well made, sharp OTB, light weight knife. I love it's size , small but strong, the blade is not thin, it has meat to it. Easy to use on ferro rod with 90degree spine. Only thing I'll say is I would like a little jimping on the spine, but that's just me. You can slice and dice with this knife. I recommend it all day long.

Nice looking knife but too thick
I wanted to love this knife, it's the most expensive one I've ever bought. I was going off it's "camp" theme that touted it's small size yet effective blade, that would be suitable for all round camp use and light enough for backpacking. Yes it was light, sharp, and very strong with it's full tang, but it's thicker than average blade made cutting basic food times like apples and bread just plain cumbersome-cutting apples had me crushing them instead of nice neat slices and paring a potato had me worried I was going to cut a finger off. I gave the knife away because it wasn't good for most of what I use a camping knife for, and not any better than the other knives I carry. I camp in the backwoods 20-30 nights a year and typically bring an opinel #7 and a small red rikon paring knife that both are lighter, easier to use around camp, and though not as strong-also haven't broken either despite a decade of use. It's a great looking knife with a very high quality sheath, but useless for me and wish I'd never bought it. Perhaps as a hunting or skinning knife it may be more useful. I guess the name "camp" could have many possibilities, but none that worked for me.

one of Esee's best knives
This knife has grown on me, and I find myself carrying it more and more. It disappears on the hip until you need it, then it's easy to retrieve and use. The handle is great (and is a four-finger fit for me) but it's the blade geometry that really shines. It's thick and almost wedged-shaped, with a steep, full flat grind. That geometry would not work on a larger blade, but it is perfect here.I have batoned many smaller sticks with this and it held up wonderfully. It is stout and you could trust your life to it, despite its small size. You won't regret buying this knife.
