Not every knife design can scale up or down easily in size, but there is just something special about the Frog Market Special. It’s been very popular as a food prep knife for survivalists, campers, and some people even keep theirs in their kitchens. The XL version scaled up very easily from the first version. Oddly enough, the mini scaled down just as easily. This knife is just a great shape in many different sizes. Its fine point is excellent for getting in between joints, de-boning, paring, and as well as other cutting tasks. The belly is at the front of the blade rather than near the tip, so it may take a little bit of getting used to, but once you handle this knife, you’ll see why so many people like it. The mini brings new options for use and carry. Excellent as a neck knife, pocket carry, or belt carry, the Frog Market Special Mini, will be great for EDC and self-defense uses. Steven Dick, who is an editor with Tactical Knives, refined this design based on what he saw on a trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. He saw butchers and fish mongers using knives with a pattern that he'd never seen before. They were able to prepare meats and fish of many varieties easily using their unique blades. But rest assured, although the inspiration for the Frog Market Special comes from the markets in Vietnam, the knives are still manufactured and hand-finished in the Rocky Mountains USA.
