CIVIVI Knives

CIVIVI Knives are the kind that you give as a gift to a friend, whether or not they're into knives. Anyone will feel the quality and attention to detail as soon as they pick one up yet their price points will signify that these knives are built to be used. As direct competitors against the Spyderco Tenacious and Ontario RAT 1, it's honestly no comparison and we definitely know which is the best choice. Considering the materials are comparable, the amazing action that CIVIVI Knives possesses makes them the knives to beat in terms of the value folding market.

Designed by Ben Peterson, formerly of the Headquarters in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the Banter is named for the video series that he helped pioneer during his time there. Even years after he's been gone, the quality he brought to their videos remains. The Banter was his collaboration with We Knives drawing inspiration from other folding knives with the sole aim at being the perfect EDC piece. We think Ben succeeded and this knife was an impressive tool that hits a lot of marks right on the nose. Now it's available in a mini version, made by We's sister company to bring more value to this awesome design.

First and foremost, the Baby Banter is an ideal size for everyday carry. The 2.32" Wharncliffe blade is housed in a compact handle so the overall length is just a hair under five-and-a-half inches. The wide base gives you ample room to grip and places the cutting surface right next to the fingers for more leverage. It's a simple shape with simple Micarta and stainless steel liner construction but what it lacks in design aesthetics it more than makes up in terms of ergonomics and strength. It's comfortable, solid, and it just flat out gets the job done. Dual thumb studs allow multiple opening methods but the deep-carry pocket clip is set up for tip-up, right and left-hand carry. The jimping on the thumb ramp is ultra-functional and the lanyard hole is large enough for 550-paracord. Ben thought of everything on the Baby Banter and we welcome it as a small yet strong force to be reckoned with in the growing realm of EDC knives.

My favorite Baby Banter
This is my 5th Baby Banter and my favorite of the five. I love the new wharncliffe blade and purple canvas micarta handles. The purple micarta is muted, very elegant and extremely grippy. This knife also has a wharncliffe blade, my favorite blade shape, and I'm glad Civivi finally decided to offer a new blade shape beyond the spear point. The blade is EXTREMELY sharp, making this knife looks a bit more serious and stealthy than the Baby Banter's with the G10 or wood scales. While the black micarta Baby Banter looks cool, I don't like the black blade coating, which makes is more an exhibition piece rather than a usable folder. This blade perfectly fits all four of my fingers of my medium sized female hand, and the blade easily flips open with the thumb stud. my only grip is I wish they added a cool color to the thumb stud, such as silver, or bright purple instead of dark grey,.
