Description

PFE08GRDMS: PFE08 Grow - Green Coral G10

Petrified Fish

The PFE08 Grow is one of the only button lock flippers on offer from Petrified Fish. The long clip point blade is made from K110 tools steel which is known for its wear resistance and strength. The blade can be opened with a push on the flipper tab, a flick of the thumb stud, or by simply flicking your wrist with the button depressed. The handles come in either a standard black G10 or green or red coral G10. The inclusion of the button lock makes the Grow a fun knife to play with and the price ensures you won't break your wallet to do so. The Grow comes with a titanium deep carry pocket clip.

Cons: Ease of Opening, Overall Quality
Good, not great
This knife looks like it checks most of the boxes for me. First, the thumb stud placement makes them almost unusable for me. They are nested right up against the scales and getting my thumb or middle finger (for a reverse flick) is almost impossible. Second, the action out of the box was so tight, the flipper would barely engage the lock. You shouldn't have to adjust the pivot within 20 seconds of opening the box. Third, the liners at the butt end of the knife were very rough like the knife had been dropped or not completely sanded from the factory. All issues (aside from the thumb stud placement) are fixable, but it is disappointing on a brand-new, well-hyped knife. The is my first PF knife and it gives me pause to ever purchase another. The good news is the blade is very nice and sharp, and the coral G10 is gorgeous. Hopefully, this knife can get some carry time and further break in, but please take my experience into account. I'm certainly not trying to bash, just being completely honest with how the knife arrived for me. Your mileage may vary.
