The steel has to be flexible enough to be effective in action, resilient enough to fold back into its slim handle without hitting into the handle sides, and finally; it must have good anti-corrosion properties, after all…salt water provides a very harsh environment.

I suppose you get what you pay for. I wanted this to replace an old kitchen folder thats lock had broken. But it would appear the broken one has a better lock up then this. The handles are extremely flimsy, the edge was terrible, the lock sometimes engages and sometimes doesn't. Theres an odd piece of metal on the back that raises that I have no idea what is used for or is just a result of poor finish. For the price, there are definitely alot better choices, do not recommend.

CRITIQUE - BONING KNIFE
I DIDN'T RECEIVE THE KNIFE ILLUSTRATED, GOT ANOTHER MODEL INSTEAD. WAS GOOD PURCHASE REGARDLESS. I GOT IT AS A GIFT TO A FRIEND AND I KNOW HE WILL ENJOY IT. THERE WAS AN APPENDAGE ON THE ONE I RECEIVED (AT THE AFT END). WHAT IS PURPOSE? I ASSUMED IT WAS A GUARD FOR THE HAND , BUT DON'T KNOW. SHIPPING WAS FAST, AND I AM PLEASED WITH THE PRODUCT RECEIVED. I HAD ALSO ORDERED ANOTHER KNIFE RECENTLY ALSO, THE KNIFE,BOTTLE OPENER COMBO. WASN'T TOO PLEASED WITH IT. BUT I HAVE MANY KNIVES AND IT COMPLEMENTS MY ARRAY. THANKS FOR OPPORTUNITY TO BE CANDID. ONE OUT OF TWO IS NOT SO BAD FOR ME. SOMEONE WILL ENJOY THE KNIFE I DON'T CARE FOR. MAY GIFT IT TO SOMEONE INTERESTED IN UNIQUE KNIVES OR KITCHEN APPLIANCES.

first mantis and not disappointed for 20 bucks couldnt get better quality - aus 8 over 6 inches for 20 bucks ? a steal !!
