Out the front (OTF) knives are a type of automatic knife, also known as a switchblade. Their blades deploy straight out of the front of the handle with the push of a button or a slide. This design allows for very fast, reliable, one-handed opening. Most OTF knives are double-action, meaning the same control retracts the blade, but single-action models that retract manually are also available. These knives are excellent for tactical situations or everyday tasks where quick access to a blade is necessary.
