How do Kershaw composite blades work?
Kershaw composite blades permanently join two distinct steels into a single blade using a visible brazed copper joint. This allows Kershaw to place a high-wear steel like CPM-D2 along the cutting edge for maximum edge retention, while using a tougher alloy like Sandvik 14C28N or N690 along the spine for structural flexibility. How does the Emerson Wave opener work on Kershaw knives?
The patented Emerson Wave is an integral hook on the blade spine that opens the knife as you draw it from your pocket. Drawing the knife backward catches the hook against the pocket seam, pulling the blade into battery before your hand clears the pocket.
